Hollywood hypocrite? Matt Damon puts kids in private school

While Polone admits producers and actors are highly compensated for their work,he saysit has always been difficult for me to understand how so many in this business put up with such a punishing routine, as he explained to Vulture in a piece he wrote about The Unglamorous, Punishing Hours of Working on a Hollywood Set. To better understand his colleagues, I decided to interview some of the people around me about their feelings on the hours they work and how this regimen affects their lives. So, Polone started going up to his below-the-line coworkers on the set of the ABC Family TV show he is currently producing, Jane By Design. Here is a summary of what they had to say about the inhumane work conditions: Harold Cunningham/Getty It takes a team of people and entire days to shoot a single film scene. Kirsten Robinson, Script Supervisor ...which means she helps the director keep track of continuity and makes notes for the editor on how he should put together the pieces of the scenes.Kirsten considered our show as a relief compared to a recent show she worked on where she worked 16 to 18 hours every day and the worst day was twenty hours. Robinson says the worst part was At the lunch break, its like you have another regular persons day ahead of you.Polone says most work 17-hour days when shooting the current ABC Family show. Steve DAmato, First Assistant Director Which means he is in charge of running the set.He recalls, The worst day I ever worked on a show was 27 hours. D'Amato adds, What bothers me most is you dont have time to do anything else. Its hard. It seems like its unnecessary: You could just add one or two more days [to Kardashian the schedule] and spread it out over more time. Were the only industry that is fighting for a twelve-hour day: That is what I find amazing. Hollywood filmmakers lured to Britain by tax credits

REVIEW: Phish At The Hollywood Bowl (Aug. 2011) The show's lone tour debut came with a first-set-closing cover of The Beatles' "While My Guitar Gently Weeps," much to the delight of the nearly 20,000 fans in attendance. Trey's opening riff to "Chalk Dust Torture" always serves as an energized get-back-to-your-seat-announcement out of any set break. Consensus seems to be that usual fan favorites "Birds of a Feather" and "Down With Disease" felt a bit abbreviated, though the band certainly made up for it with a 23-minute spirited "Harry Hood," the show's definitive high point. "Character Zero" is rarely my song of choice, but it's loud enough to close out a second set the right way, before the band departed and http://en.netlog.com/andrecaba/blog/blogid=27023763 then quickly returned to the stage for a cover of The Rolling Stones' "Loving Cup" as the encore. Teen who allegedly helped set off Hollywood, Crenshaw crimes arr

Los Angeles police announced Wednesday the arrest of a 16-year-old boy in connection with a series of robberies and other crimes in Crenshaw and Hollywood, saying they believe he used social media to help organize the illegal activity. The teen was arrested Monday on suspicion of inciting a riot, LAPD Deputy Chief Kirk Albanese told reporters Wednesday. Police said they were working with prosecutors to determine charges. In announcing the arrest, police officials again appealed to the public for help in identifying outstanding suspects in the July 15 and 16 crimes in Crenshaw and Hollywood. The upheaval took place against the backdrop of several days of protests against the acquittal of George Zimmerman , a former neighborhood-watch volunteer who fatally shot unarmed teenager Trayvon Martin in Florida. Albanese said although many gathered in Leimert Park the night of July 15 to peacefully protest the verdict, the group driven by social media had other intentions. "We saw a number of crimes," Albanese said. <br>Source: http://www.latimes.com/local/lanow/la-me-ln-teen-arrested-hollywood-crenshaw-20130724,0,5089987.story

As the studios have focused increasingly on the fortunes of monster-sized "tentpoles," as they're known in the trade, weekend real-estate in the summer months has become precious, fraught territory. In the season's packed schedule, there's little breathing room for the blockbusters: They need to open big, right away. Some of these films have succeeded. Some have flopped. But more than most summers, the content of this year's seasonal crop of spectacles has felt like a pummeling, leaving both moviegoers and some in the industry dazed from the onslaught. <br>Source: http://abcnews.go.com/Entertainment/wireStory/analysis-volatile-summer-hollywood-19763759

TV highlights for July 23: TLC brings back ‘Who Do You Think You Are?’

Other episodes sent in advance to critics include the Aug. 5 show with the writers and star of NBC's "Parks and Recreation" and the Aug. 19 episode on Fox's "New Girl." Rash is a perfect host for a show about writers, not just because he's a writer himself, but because he seems to be legitimately interested in talking to his subjects, and not just hogging the spotlight himself. That may seem obvious, until you think of other interview shows that seem more about the interviewer than the interviewees. Because Rash speaks the same lingo as his subjects, "The Writers' Room" has the potential to provide real insight into the process of making great TV. <br>Source: http://www.sfgate.com/tv/article/The-Writers-Room-review-TV-behind-the-scenes-4681781.php

Twitter, which had been calling the ad initiative "Twitter Amplify," markets the second-screen advertising play as an automated way to boost the impact of traditional broadcast advertising. As a result, EA intends to take http://wallinside.com/post-4148224-that-is-a-magical-time-when-all-of-the-cities-around-the-world-are-more-gloriously-alive-than-they-u.html a more active role in the more? info… movie making business. An example of this is the upcoming Need For Speed flick, which just wrapped production. The game's publisher apparently funded the development of that film's script, which might be the reason why it ended up actually happening. It also gives EA a greater say in how the final product will turn out, something that Ubisoft is already doing with their upcoming Assassins Creed and Splinter Cell adaptations. Ultimately, the main reason why films based on games are so bad is because the creators have mostly been uninvolved in the movie making process. Though EA will have to be careful; everyone knows by now that the reason why the Halo movie got cancelled was because Microsoft became too involved, enough to make the studio walk away, even though it was guaranteed to be a blockbuster. <br>Source: http://multiplayerblog.mtv.com/2013/07/22/dead-space-the-movie-is-still-happening/
